Run To Inspire is a Cape Town running academy turning untapped talent into champions — one stride at a time.

"Talent is everywhere. Opportunity isn't."
Our Mission
Run To Inspire was born from a simple belief: every young person deserves a chance to discover what they're capable of. In Cape Town's communities, raw talent runs the streets every single day — but talent without opportunity goes nowhere.
We exist to bridge that gap. Through coaching, kit, race entries, mentorship, and a community that refuses to leave anyone behind, we turn potential into performance — and athletes into leaders.
We don't just train runners.
We change lives.

Shout out to the RTI crew!
Janine smashed it with 2nd in her age group, and Kurt came in strong with 4th in his. Proud of you both!
It's not about speed, it's about consistency.
Becoming a better runner is a lifestyle choice. Here you'll find workouts, recipes and training diaries covering different aspects of the running lifestyle.
As part of your race preparation, go through all of your kit and make sure you have everything you need for race day. Don't wait until the night before — it's too late if you need to buy anything.
I've put together a PDF checklist of all the things you might need for your race! There's also space at the end to add any race-specific mandatory kit or anything else you want to take.
Download checklist (PDF)Prepare your kit, race number, nutrition, shoes, watch, warm-up, and pacing plan before race day. Coach posts will appear here.
I know it can seem really intimidating starting your running journey and you might not know where to start, so here are some tips:
Set a goal
Having something to work towards is a game changer — it gives you a light at the end of the tunnel, motivation to train, and a reward once you complete it. Your goal can be anything: complete your first Park Run, run your first 10km, or sign up for a half marathon.
Keep your easy runs easy
Most of your running should feel comfortable and conversational. If you can chat on the phone as you go for a jog, you're at the right effort.
Do some sort of interval training
As well as keeping easy runs easy, add a bit of stress to improve. Sessions like 10 x 1 min fast / 1 min easy or 8 x 90 secs fast / 90 secs easy are a great way to start incorporating speed.
Do your strength!
Please, please, please do strength! It keeps injuries away and makes you faster and stronger.
Stick to your planned pace and don't go off too fast!
There is a very fine line in marathon running between nailing your goal time and blowing up. Trust me, I have done both and the latter hurts…a lot! You should have been practicing your marathon pace in training and have honed it come race day. Don't get to that start line and think, 'you know what, I think I can actually go off faster than I have trained for'.
Fuel properly
You can avoid hitting the wall by fuelling with the right amount of carbohydrate. Aim for a minimum of 60g carb/hr and if you can get it up to 90g carb/hr, even better. Practice this in training to work out how much your stomach can tolerate — your stomach is like any other muscle, you need to train it.
Lube up!
Chafe sucks. Three to try: Ass Magic, Body Glide and Squirrel's Nut Butter.
